The farm was primarily an extensive breeding operation that sold plains game and red list Antelope. In May of 2014 Ken Whyte Junior established Madrid Game Breeders and began the more intensive monitoring and management of the game while introducing top quality genetics to add to the farms diversity. We are now the proud breeders of Roan Antelope, Nyala, Kudu, Bushbuck, Common Reedbuck, and two colour variant Impala species. We specialise in the breeding of top quality Nyala and have begun creating genetically diverse populations. We have begun to breed for various characteristics in terms of horn length, shape and width while maintaining a genetically strong animal. We strive to deliver Roan Antelope that are better adapted to high tick load environments. We intend to find ways to innovate and advance the industry while being both student and teacher to other breeders, both old and new.
On Madrid ethically and biologically friendly breeding is our prerogative. We aim to conserve our land and resources while providing our animals with the best conditions possible. We prioritise our roan herd with the hopes of joining a reintroduction effort in other areas of Africa that have diminished populations. We aim to improve the environment and ecology of our area through our processes.
